Assistance League of Phoenix holiday banquet

I had the honor of speaking at the annual holiday banquet for Assistance League of Phoenix on Dec 4th.

This all-volunteer, national organization has so many facets to it. The Phoenix chapter operates a thrift boutique, they dress children for school with complete new school uniforms (mostly title one schools), along with many other projects for children and newborns including book gifts and teddy bears for emotional support, and more. For more information on this quality organization, please check out their website here.

Military Writers Society of America (MWSA) reviews CLEAR TO LIFT

Thank you, Military Writers Society of America (MWSA), for this wonderful review of CLEAR TO LIFT.

This review contained one of the most touching things I think I've ever read in a review: "Although her career to date has focused on outdoor ventures and high-altitude rescue specialties, I believe that Wilson is first and foremost a writer. Rather than thinking of her as an adventurous pilot who enjoys writing, I think of her as a writer . . . "

It goes on to say more, but wow. Validation. I am a writer. Which may sound strange. "Of course, you're a writer, Anne. Duh!" But this comment? I don't know. It just really touched me.

Here's the full review

HOVER optioned for film

I have some nice news. HOVER has been optioned for film. What this means is that a producer contacted me with interest in taking HOVER to either the big screen or small screen. My literary agency and the film agency they work with in Los Angeles arranged for the contract that gives the producer the rights to look for media partners  to develop HOVER into a feature film.

This is a process that is in its nascent stages. What the producer has asked me to do is to share this book trailer he made. It is posted on a Facebook page that he created as an information center for prospective media partners.

The goal here is to reach as wide an audience as possible because number of hits and likes are great selling points. So if you have a moment, perhaps you could click over there just to see.

Admittedly, it’s awkward for me, because the producer asked me to be IN the book trailer, which, as you’ll see, has been done in an interview style.

So there you have it. Not sure what will happen with all this, but it's pretty cool that someone in the movie industry liked the book enough to take it to this next place. As always, thank you readers and friends for your support of my writing.

Goldfield Ranch Book Club

What an amazing evening with the Goldfield Ranch Book Club. They picked HOVER as their April read. The cool thing is that many of the ladies gave the book to their husbands to read, so they came tonight, too!

Thank you all for such a warm reception, great conversation, and insightful questions! It was truly a pleasure.

Shifley Lecture Series - US Naval Academy

I had the great honor to speak at the United States Naval Academy as part of the Shifley Lecture Series this weekend. It was an amazing few days on many levels. I was able to catch up with some of my 1989 classmates, meet staff and faculty, and roam the grounds of my alma mater.

I spoke about the path I took in flying inland search and rescue, which was especially fun with so many naval and marine corps aviators in the audience.

Thanks again to Naval Academy Museum director, Claude Berube, and also to Grant Walker. You both made this an easy and pleasurable visit! Thanks also to the Shifley family and the Class of 1950 for sponsoring this series. I was so honored to be asked to speak as part of this.

As a fun side note, my classmates and I were speaking with the museum director in his office after the talk. Little did we know, we were sitting on the "Patriot Games" couch. You can see below that I was sitting where Harrison Ford sat so many years ago!

Fountain Hills Friends of the Library

I had a wonderful time with the Fountain Hills Friends of the Library today. The rainy weather drove people indoors to learn about CLEAR TO LIFT and inland search and rescue. I enjoyed meeting several up and coming authors, too. Great to talk about the writing process and publishing. Thank you again to the Fountain Hills Library and the Fountain Hills Friends of the Library for an awesome event!
